Rakʿah
Rakʿah (كعة) is a unit of prayer. Each of the five daily prayers has a set number of Rakʿah, which need to be made.
The number of Rakʿah for each prayer is as follows:
Fajr (Dawn) – 2,
Dhuhr (Midday) – 4,
Asr (late afternoon) – 4,
Maghrib (evening) – 3,
Isha (Night) – 4.
The number of Rakʿah for each of the five daily prayers (Salah), as listed above, is a standard derived from hadeeths. The exact number is found nowhere in the Qur’an.
